“FEED OUR FAMILIES”

In the United States an estimated 13 million people go to
bed hungry each night. Orange County families have not been
immune to the economic downturn, and there are parents who find
themselves unable to feed their children. With these families in
mind, Week of the Family has determined to support SCOUTING FOR FOOD
as our service project this year.

SCOUTING FOR FOOD is the Nation’s largest single-day food drive.
In 2009, SCOUTING FOR FOOD collected enough food to provide over
400,000 meals to the Central Florida community.

Saturday, November 6th, is Bag Distribution Day. More than 700,000 plastic bags will be hung on doorknobs in Central Florida.

Saturday, November 13th, is Collection Day. Scouts return to pick up bags filled with donated canned goods which are then distributed to Second Harvest Food Bank and other local food pantries within the district in which the food is collected.

Please do your part to feed our families by participating in this
year’s Week of the FAMILY SERVICE PROJECT.
